Rayados from Monterrey will make their debut in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on Tuesday, June 17, at 6:00 p.m. (CST) at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, California, when they face Inter Milan.
The Monterrey team will participate for the sixth time in the world's most important club tournament, after finishing third twice, in 2012 and 2019, and having made three other appearances in 2011, 2013, and 2022.
This will be the second time that Monterrey has faced Inter Milan, but the first in an official competition, as on May 25, 1994, both teams played during the Tecate Cup, held at the Estadio Tecnologico.
At that time, Jose Antonio Noriega, now sporting president of Rayados, was part of the blue-and-white team that faced the neroazzurri, accompanied by figures such as Mario Jauregui, Sergio Verdirame, Carlos Alberto Bianchezi 'Careca', Richard Tavares, Jose Juan Hernandez, Salvador Arevalo, and Roberto Hernandez, among others.
Juan Pablo Carrizo, former goalkeeper for Rayados de Monterrey, is the only player to have worn the jersey of both clubs. He played for Inter Milan from 2013 to 2017 and arrived at Monterrey in 2017, where he played for a year and won the Copa MX.
Tuesday's match will be broadcast live on DAZN and TUDN.
