Club de Futbol Monterrey announces that it has reached an agreement for Uruguayan goalkeeper Santiago Mele to join Rayados' first team on a permanent transfer with a contract until 2029.

Santiago has been registered to play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, an event in which Monterrey will make its debut on Tuesday, June 17, in Los Angeles.

Mele, 27, has a solid international track record, having played for teams in Uruguay, Turkey, Argentina, and Colombia, as well as for the Uruguayan national team at various levels.

He made his debut with Club Fénix in Uruguay in 2016 and moved to Europe in 2017 to play for Osmanlıspor in Turkey and Lleida Esportiu in Spain.

Since 2020, he has been part of teams such as Plaza Colonia in Uruguay, Union de Santa Fe in Argentina, and Atletico Junior de Barranquilla in Colombia.

Santiago was part of the Uruguayan Under-20 national team that won the South American championship. He also participated in the 2017 Under-20 World Cup, in which Uruguay reached the semifinals.

He made his debut in 2023 with the Uruguayan national team, with which he has played friendly matches and was part of the squad that finished third in the 2024 Copa America.

Throughout his career, he has shared a locker room with international players such as Federico Valverde, Ronald Araujo, Rodrigo Bentancur, Jose Maria Gimenez, and Luis Suarez.

With his leadership, talent, confidence at the goal, and international experience, Santiago arrives in Monterrey to defend the blue and white goal with passion and commitment.
