21 de May de 2025. 4:04 pm.

As part of its commitment to sporting excellence, Club de Fútbol Monterrey is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Catalan coach Domènec Torrent, who will take over as Head Coach of Rayados.

Once the contract is signed, Domènec and his coaching staff will join the team and begin preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

Torrent, 62, brings more than three decades of experience in professional football, including roles at top international clubs, and is known for implementing a balanced, dynamic, and competitive style of play.

He began his managerial career at age 29 with CE Farners in Catalonia.

The turning point in Domènec’s career came in 2007, when he joined Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff at Barcelona B. He later became part of Guardiola’s staff with Barcelona’s first team (2008–2012), where they won 14 national and international titles.

His collaboration with Guardiola continued at Bayern Munich (2013–2016), where he helped secure 7 titles, including 3 consecutive Bundesliga championships, 2 German Cups, 1 UEFA Super Cup, and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.

At Manchester City (2016–2018), Torrent contributed to winning the Premier League and the English League Cup.

During his time with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, Torrent helped win a total of 23 titles, including: 2 UEFA Champions League, 3 La Liga titles, 3 Bundesliga titles, 1 Premier League title, 3 FIFA Club World Cups, 2 UEFA Super Cups and 9 domestic cups and super cups.

In 2018, Torrent took on his first role as Head Coach with New York City FC in Major League Soccer (MLS). During his tenure (2018–2019), he led the club to the best regular season in its history, earning a record 64 points in the Eastern Conference and qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions League for the first time.

He went on to coach Flamengo in Brazil in 2020, and Galatasaray in Turkey between 2021 and 2022.

In 2024, Domènec arrived in Mexico to coach Atlético San Luis in Liga BBVA MX. In his debut season, the Apertura 2024, he led the team to a club-record 30 points in the regular season and reached the semifinals.

Now, Torrent joins Rayados with international experience, a proven track record of working with elite teams, and deep knowledge of Mexican football.

With the leadership of the Catalan coach and the talent of the squad, Rayados will compete at the highest level, beginning with the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Welcome to Monterrey, Domènec!
