RAYADOS CLOSE WITH A CRUSHING VICTORY AND ADVANCE TO THE QUARTERFINALS!

Rayados de Monterrey advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Clausura 2024 on Sunday, after defeating Necaxa 5-2 in Matchday 17 played at the Estadio Victoria, in Aguascalientes.

Rayados reached 32 points and are in fourth place in the General Standings. They will face Club Tigres in the Quarter-Finals. As they have a better position in the table, they will close with the second leg at Estadio BBVA.

Monterrey began the match against Necaxa with possession of the ball and looking for the opponent's goal, although the goals did not come until the second half.

At minute 19, Stefan Medina sent in a cross that German Berterame failed to connect.

Minutes later, Sergio Canales took a corner kick and Gerardo Arteaga shot with his right foot, but goalkeeper Luis Usnain prevented the goal.

At minute 30, goalkeeper Luis Cardenas reacted brilliantly to a header by Alan Montes and prevented the home team from scoring.

In the second half, Rayados kept up the pressure and searched for the opponent's goal and with goals from German Berterame, Alfonso Gonzalez and Brandon Vazquez, as well as a brace from Sergio Canales, the win was secured.

Monterrey finished the tournament with 9 wins and 32 points, and will now look to have great Playoffs to fulfill the competition's objectives.

On Wednesday, May 1, at 8:15 p.m., Rayados will host Columbus Crew in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Semifinal at Estadio BBVA.
